This dazzling silver gorget was made in England in 1775 or 1776 for an officer of the 60th, or Royal American, Regiment. This British army unit was originally raised in Pennsylvania and surrounding colonies during the French and Indian War (1754-1763). Elements of the corps served in many campaigns of the Revolutionary War.
