Collection Highlight: British Gorget

<p>This dazzling silver gorget was made in England in 1775 or 1776 for an officer of the 60th, or Royal American, Regiment. This British army unit was originally raised in Pennsylvania and surrounding <span class="wordDefine" tabIndex="0" data-term="Colony" data-def="An area under the political control of another country and often times settled in part by people from that country.">colonies</span> during the French and Indian War (1754-1763). Elements of the corps served in many campaigns of the Revolutionary War.</p>
