Joshua Warren's Redware Mug
1775
This redware mug belonged to Revolutionary War soldier Joshua Warren. Warren enlisted in Colonel John Paterson’s Regiment and participated in the Siege of Boston, the failed invasion of Canada, and the Trenton and Princeton campaign. He later served in the Saratoga campaign. Mugs like these were common items carried in a soldier’s knapsack and would have been used every day. Both Warren and the mug survived the war. The mug became an important family heirloom that was passed down through multiple generations until it was donated to the Museum by Joshua Warren’s great-great-great-granddaughter.
